...I don't know if remembering my story would prevent others from repeating it.
[While it's unlikely the exact same circumstances might get repeated, the basic and human parts can still be done. Theft. Murder. Seeking revenge against another. Whether it's with a sword or another weapon, humans would still commit sins and leave their imprint.
Sayo doesn't believe remembering his story would prevent another person from revenge.]
[What's keeping Sayo from completely believing in Sousei is his remaining reluctance and distrust. He knows people can make an impact, history was full of such influential people, but they can also fail as well. He doubts the world would ever become completely safe.]
...I will be watching and... lend my blade if Master wishes.
[If Sousei was Haru or any of his previous masters, his response would be... mostly the same but his emotions would differ. The fact remains is that Sousei is not his master. And without any orders, he have no position to intrude in on another's fight.
sayo.
Very little in history is.
[He responds without missing a bit, unruffled and unbothered. He's a soldier, after all; he's seen the most gruesome humanity can become.
That a sword has a gruesome history does not surprise him in the least.]
That is all the more reason to remember it--so such things are not repeated.

They can always strive to improve.]

Maybe. But... It would be nice if another weapon won't become like me.
[Every swords get influenced by their masters. But he doesn't wish for another sword to become obsessed with revenge.]

That won't be necessary.
[Oh, that was immediate and blunt. But he has a reason, and that's--]
It will be unnecessary for you to dirty your blade in any way over this.
[He wants to make sure that Sayo doesn't have to become more blood-soaked all for this.]
