[Not like he's missed Soramaru or anything (he has) but with all of the other people clamoring for him to teach them all the time (some of whom he does, most of whom he does not), it really does put it into perspective how good of a student Soramaru has always been.
And, naturally, he says none of this.]
Now more than ever there is no time to let your skills grow rusty. They will see use here, and there are civilians and children who are incapable of defending themselves here as well.
[ he's being relied on. sousei wants to rely on his strength to help him protect the people who can't protect themselves. ---that's hard to parse. that's very, very hard to parse. he stare blankly for a moment, gaping before --snapping out of it and giving a curt nod. ]
[He is absolutely relying on Soramaru. The Yamainu aren't here--they haven't been here for the five months that Sousei has been stuck here. That means that there are only a precious few he can truly depend on.
Naturally, Soramaru is one of those people.
That said, he sees that expression, but at least he snapped out of it--so his remonstration is mild.]
So remain focused. This experience seems to be mostly harmless, but there have been significantly more dangerous ones. [Ones that even Sousei considers to be extremely dangerous, so...]
[ he huffs up -- determined! ...even if it's a worried determination. if master thinks that things here get extremely dangerous... what chance does he have? he can't even begin to dream about beating something that master and aniki find difficult. ]
[ --that makes him freeze up, a little. he'd been good at keeping eye contact and looking forward, but now -- he can't help but drop his gaze. ]
...You want me to protect Aniki?
[ the words feel foreign. that's -- impossible, isn't it? at his level, that's not something he can do. it's all he wants -- it's all he's ever wanted, but -- ]
[Which is admittedly not the same thing, though it does boil down to something similar. Tenka's been...well, he's been through a lot here, and Sousei's concerned that he won't always be able to prevent him from doing something dumb.
[ ...impossible. actually, completely impossible. he's not strong enough for that -- he'd have to be stronger than tenka to protect him from something. ]
...I-- Am I the best person to ask that of, do you think, Master...?
[Is Soramaru the best person to ask? Honestly. Who knows Tenka better than him? And it's not the physical that worries Sousei. Tenka's as strong as ever--stronger, really.
[For what it's worth... Sousei has complete confidence in Soramaru's ability to kick Tenka out of funks and bad moods and making sure he doesn't do anything stupid.]
But if you are concerned, then work on improving. [getting stronger, getting better at those things...isn't that the way to best make sure you can handle it?]

[So clearly they have to protect them too.]

But he knows he can trust Soramaru to do his absolute best.]
... In particular, keep an eye on Tenka.

Previous events have proven that much.]
And yes, if necessary, protect him.
