[Sousei sensed the fact that he had company before Shirasu steps out of the shadows, at least--which is a good thing, honestly, because it keeps him from reacting in a more negative way.

As it is, he pauses, but all he does is slowly cross his arms, arching an eyebrow.]

Fuuma.

[He'll let Shirasu make the first move, since it's clearly Shirasu's intent that something happen here.]

[ He pushes his hair back off his face, then keeps his hands in sight -- he's unarmed, at least, he has no weapons in hand. ]

I understand you have encountered my brother. [ His expression is blank -- Sousei has gotten under his skin before, but he's determined it not happen now. ]

This. He really should have expected this, shouldn't he........ Slowly, he arches an eyebrow, but he refuses to be on the defensive here.]

He bears a grudge against both Tenka and myself.

[that much is clear.]

I am aware. [ More than either you or Tenka know, Sousei. ]

I told him about the... truce we have. [ He doesn't like that word. Fuuma didn't make truces -- it implies too much cooperation. ] He will abide by it.

[ And he doesn't have any reason to doubt. It's his twin, after all. ]

[Yeah, he doesn't really care about that, because Sousei trusts both of them less than he could throw them, honestly. But...that leaves a glaring loophole.]

And what of Tenka?

[he was never part of the truce, aside from making it happen.

But if the other ninja has a grudge against him....]

He won't cause harm to you, Tenka, or any of Tenka's brothers. [ He barely refrains from giving Sousei a look that expresses how little intelligence he thinks the man has right about now. ]

However, just so we're clear: if you harm him, no promise will keep me from paying you back.

[ He has been dramatic before toward the Yamainu captain, but this is just matter-of-fact. ] He's already paid for his actions.

[Look, he doesn't trust you ninja for a moment, he's making sure there are no loopholes here.

A scoff.]

If I never have to see his face, I would be satisfied. [Obviously, he has -50 interest in murder.] However, if he causes harm to those under my protection, I will take care of the problem.

Your threats do not frighten me, after all.

[ Calm. ]

It's not meant to frighten. It's meant to inform. [ Yes, he will risk threatening his friendship with Tenka to avenge his brother. ]

I will take full responsibility for him. I don't care what he does -- if you touch him, I will kill you.

And I am informing you in turn--I do not respect your attempts at taking responsibility for your actions or those of your brother.

[He's yet to see anything that really convinces him that Shirasu has taken responsibility at all, after all.]

I have no interest in your brother. But if he causes harm to those I am protecting, he will properly pay for it. [And no death threats will stop Sousei from defending the people who matter to him, when it counts.]

[ Seems like all they ever get to are impasses. Though the idea that Sousei would ever respect anything Shirasu does is somewhat laughable. Shirasu's mouth twists into a frown. There's no way he'd stoop to giving up any of his brother's life story or secrets to the Yamainu captain, and he doubts it would make any difference. ]

I suppose we'll see, then.

[ He steps back into the shadows and disappears. ]
