[ But just as Shinpachi starts with that statement, there's a rather large growl from somewhere behind them.. and when he turns to look, he can finally see what's chasing them by now, since it's just turning the corner.
And that thing? It's absolutely gigantic. Shinpachi's climbed hills that were smaller than that. ]
Are they kidding?! [ He sounds half incredulous, half just Done with this. How ridiculous are they going to make these situations? Sure, he's still running, but that doesn't mean he has to be okay with this shit. ]
Sousei stares at it for a moment, and while his jaw doesn't drop, there's some definitely surprise on his face.
Coming from him, that's basically slack-jawed surprise.
But either way, he takes this opportunity to...decide to run faster... no, he doesn't want to fight that thing. And it seems to be covered in blood already, though he's not entirely sure if it's from other peopl...e....]
[ It's only half-snappy.. mostly since the situation is sort of agitating (no, really agitating, actually. he's a warrior, give him a damn fight already--) rather than anything else. But at least Shinpachi does grit his teeth a moment later, speeding up his pace a little. There's no way they can outrun something of that size otherwise, right? That thing could take a leisurely step after them and still have a good chance of catching up.
Their only hope is really to run out of the doors and have that thing be trapped inside.
.. If the doors haven't locked behind them, that is.
But those are thoughts for later. If they don't have anything else to try, they might as well risk everything on this. (Especially when his sword is little more than a toothpick to that thing.) ]
[He understands the agonizing, but at least Sousei also understands needing to be crafty and tricky to deal with giant monsters when you can't just stick them with your sword. It is catching up at an alarming rate, and Sousei huffs faintly under his breath, before he says sharply--]
Keep going!
[He's going to peel off and buy them some time.
Thankfully, not with any stupid pointless heroics, so at least there's that. Rather, he spied a rather large banner strung over one of the balconies of the mall--a quick run up the stairs and a quick draw of his sword and he cuts it free...just as the monster steps by. It's large enough that it gets tangled up in the banner, but just for a short period of time, Sousei imagines; either way, he's not going to stick around, bolting immediately.
GOTTA DO WHAT YOU GOTTA DO to survive against giant monsters.]
[ Shinpachi does keep running since he trusts Sousei - for the most part, anyway. He still makes sure that the other isn't doing anything stupidly heroic that'll cost his life by glancing over his shoulder, but when he sees Sousei going up rather than towards the monster directly, he knows the other has at least got this much.
Instead he focuses on reaching the doors, slamming them open. Outside the blizzard is still raging, but he doesn't even care. They just have to get out of here and away from that thing right now, that's more dangerous than the cold. ]
Sousei, c'mon!
[ Yes, he's at least waiting for the other by holding open the doors. Shinpachi's sensible, yes, but he's also very much the "leave no man behind" type. ]
[He doesn't believe in pointless heroics, shhhh...
But he follows, running at full speed--which is good, because the monster has shredded up that banner by now, carrying on towards them once again. He's not even going to hesitate with the blizzard and the snow; instead, he runs straight through the door, grabbing Shinpachi's arm as he goes past, and dragging him right out with him.
The monster thuds into the doors, but can't seem to break them. What are those mall doors made out of?
Not that Sousei has a lot of room to question it, because with all of their forward momentum, the moment his boot hits a patch of ice under the snow, he's sliding.]
[ It's not the most graceful exit. Sure, they're safe for now, since it seems the thing can't break out of the mall.. but on the other hand, with the way Sousei is slipping while he's still dragging Shinpachi out? It means they're both going down. THEY'RE YELLING TIMBEEERRRR.
Which means that they end up as a pile of limbs right there on the floor, since Shinpachi falling down on top of you sure isn't a way that helps you avoid falling to begin with. Shinpachi's at least conscious enough of the situation to remove himself from Sousei before the other is trapped under muscle mountain, but he lets out a groan as he half sits up and glances behind them, towards the mall. ]
.. it can't get out, huh. [ Look, let's just not discuss the fact they're still half tangled up there, that's too embarrassing. They're not each other's top bromo partner, okay. ]
[Thank goodness... Tenka's enough of a heavy weight when he lands on top of Sousei, and Shinpachi's even bigger and more muscled than him. Nobody wants the muscle mountain, okay......
Sousei just sits up as well, also ignoring the fact that they're still in a vague tangle of limbs. Who cares, they're alive, nohomo, etc etc etc.
Instead, with as much dignity as he can muster considering their positions, he reaches up and brushes snow from his hair and head.]
... Apparently not. That...was extremely lucky. [And...it's a tough pill to swallow to accept that they're still alive due to luck, of all things.
But maybe you guys should stop sitting in the snow.]
[ Shinpachi lets out another breath of relief, and only then notices that it's turning into a shiver halfway through. Okay, yeah, maybe sitting in the snow isn't the best idea they've ever had. It's certainly more of a problem than them having skinship over here, that's something Shinpachi honestly doesn't give a shit about, especially not with fellow members of the brosquare.
But the snow is serious enough of a problem that he finally draws himself free fully so he can stand up, holding out a hand towards the other. ]
Thanks, Sousei. Can't think of a lot of better guys to have my back in the middle of this place's bullshit. [ BITTER TOWARDS EVERYTHING HERE, YES.. but at least there's appreciation for Sousei. He's a damn good guy and a damn good warrior, what else is he supposed to say? ]
[It is very cold and wet, okay.... and Sousei will accept that hand. He doesn't need the assistance, no, but... it's Shinpachi. And he watched his back, so the least he can do is trust him enough to allow him to pull him back up.
Sousei brushes himself off as soon as he's back standing, and snorts softly at that.]
You watched my back without any fault. It's only natural that I would do a good job of it in return.
[Don't think him for things like that, it's so sincere and awkward!!! gosh!!!]
[ Aww, look at cute little Souseiwousei... too tsun to deal with Shinpachi's genuine feelings of bromo. How adorable.
Shinpachi totally gets what the other is getting at and why he's being so roundabout about it, and it makes a grin appear on his face despite the situation they literally fell out of only a few moments ago. He just really, really likes Sousei, okay. Totally normal. ]
Yeah. I gotta at least see what Sano's up to. [ Considering he had been looking for the guy earlier in the storm when the devices were down.. ] And.. well, you got your people to look for too, yeah?
[Ah yes, Sano....... to Sousei's credit, he doesn't even twitch. Instead, he nods smoothly, as if he totally hadn't already met up with Sano and socked him in the jaw once tonight.]
That is a good idea. And yes, I'll do so as well.
[For Tenka, and the people in their household, and anyone else he runs into.
So for now...a pause, and he glances at Shinpachi, before he says quite simply:] I'll count on you keeping yourself in one piece, then.
[Since he won't be around to watch Shinpachi's back...and with that parting comment, he turns on his heel and trudges his way through the snow.]

Stop talking.
[LESS TALKING, MORE RUNNING.]
It probably won't fit through the door.
[SO THAT'S THE GOAL HERE.]
